Florence COXE INNIS

Florence COXE INNIS, age 87, of 701 Hillside Drive, Fairfield, died Tuesday evening at her home.

Mrs. INNIS was born July 28, 1915, in Enid, Okla., the daughter of Winfred Mertin and Lucille BAIN COXE. She married Lester Gail INNIS Aug. 5, 1940, in Enid. He died Jan. 18, 1999, in Fairfield.

Mrs. COX(E) (sic - INNIS) had lived in the Fairfield community since 1955, with her previous residence in Greenburg, Kansas. She taught school in Richland and Keosauqua school systems. She completed her master's degree at the University of Iowa. She taught vocational office studies at Southeastern Community College in West Burlington for many years until her retirement.

She was the district trainer for AARP for 10 years. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Retired Michigan-Wisconsin Pipeline Retirees.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Mrs. INNIS and her husband loved to travel to visit family members.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters and in-laws: Barbara BARWICK of Marietta, Ga.; Gail DAWSON and husband Richard of St. Maarten, Netherlands Antilles; David INNIS and wife Jan of Lincoln, Neb.; and Joe INNIS and wife Paula of Amarillo, Texas.

Survivors also include 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester INNIS; and son-in-law, Norman BARWICK.

The funeral service for Florence COXE INNIS will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Kenneth Kent officiating.

Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at Enid Cemetery and Mausoleum in Enid, Okla.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund.
