June 25, 1925 - Page 6, Col. 2MRS. LOOFBORROW
Barbara Ellen, daughter of Christian and Mary Ann GRABER, was born June 20th, 1859 in Jefferson County, Iowa and passed away to her eternal home on Wednesday, June 17th, 1925, aged 65 years, 11 months and 27 days.
She was united in marriage to John LOOFBORROW in Feb., 1889. Their happiness was brief, he being taken in death 1895.
She united with the Christian church in girlhood at about 13 years of age. After moving to Birmingham and making her home here she transferred her church membership to the Methodist Episcopal church. She was a member of the Ladies Aid society and in every way a faithful member of the church and loyal to her Christ until the end.
She was a member of Silver Spray Rebekah lodge.
Many people knew her because of her business life. She engaged in the millinery business in Stockport for about eight years and then in Birmingham about 19 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing her aged mother, Mrs. Polly GRABER of Fairfield, three nieces, Mrs. Charles GLOTFELTY of Cantril, Mrs. Ora C. WILLIAMS of Keosauqua and Mrs. Everet HIGGINBOTTOM of Fairfield and one nephew, John GILCHRIST of Birmingham.
She will be missed from her home, from the fraternal organization to which she was ever loyal, and she will be missed from the church life and work. But for her, death was but the crossing of the threshold out of this life of suffering and care into life celestial in the presence of her gracious Master and Lord.
Funeral services were held in the late home by the Rev. G. H. Smith on Friday afternoon, June 19. Beautiful songs were rendered by the Williams quartet. The floral remembrances were beautiful. Interment was made in the Maple Hill cemetery.
