“John O. Rice, former resident of Fairfield, died Wed. at his home in Spencer, Iowa. Raymond Funeral Home. McDowell Cemetery. Born Sept 15 1871 in Jefferson County, son of Wm. & Sarah Orr Rice. Reared and educated in Jefferson County; married Nellie Pringle. She preceded him in death along with several brothers and sisters. Survived by four sons: Willard, Burlington; Verne, Oak Park, Ill.; Lloyd, Spencer, Iowa; and Raymond, Elmhurst, Ill.; 9 grandchildren and 6 greatgrandchildren. Retired farmer. Member Methodist Church and Masonic Lodge at Richland.”
