Mildred L. Gordon, 85, of rural Bonaparte died at 1:37 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2003, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bonaparte United Church in Bonaparte, with the Rev. Catie Newman officiating. Burial will be at approximately 3:30 p.m. in Oquawka Cemetery in Oquawka, Ill.

Memorials to Chapter AB P.E.O. may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home or mailed to the family at 5 E. Pheiffer St., Green City, MO 63545.

Pedrick Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gordon was born Dec. 27, 1917, in Henderson County, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Lenora Keaton Johnson. She married Virgil L. Gordon April 10, 1937, in Oquawka. He died died Sept. 15, 1982.

Mrs. Gordon farmed with her husband in Mercer and Henderson counties in Illinois until moving to their farm north of Bonaparte in 1959, where she continued living for the rest of her life. She was a graduate of Oquawka High School. In addition to being a farm homemaker, she worked many years at the Bonaparte glove factory.

She was a member of Bonaparte United Church and its Mariners Group, Chapter AB P.E.O and Bonaparte and Van Buren County historical societies.

Survivors include one son, Paul Gordon and wife Joyce of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Joan Gittings and husband, John of Green City, Mo.; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and two sisters, Ruby Stubblefield of Durate, Calif., and Hazel Smith of Monmouth, Ill.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one son, Gene Gordon.
