Mildred R. HILL

Mildred R. HILL, 91, of Fairfield and formerly of Washington, Iowa, died Sunday, July 29, 2012, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield following a short illness.

A funeral is at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Stacy Grau officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Grove Cemetery (sic - in Washington, IA).

Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

A memorial in the name of Mildred HILL has been established to Sunnybrook Assisted Living or Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. HILL was born Jan. 14, 1921, north of Lockridge, the daughter of Charles John and Margaret POHREN GRAF. She married Max Dillion HILL Feb. 28, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Jan. 5, 2004.

She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Fairfield and VFW Auxiliary.

She was a homemaker and also was employed at Places Dime Store, Harrison's Dime Store and Andes Candy Store.

She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, collecting porcelain dolls and watching Cardinal baseball.

Survivors include three sons, Walter HILL and spouse Mary of Birmingham, Larry HILL and spouse Norma of Fairfield and Keith HILL and spouse Diana of Brighton; one daughter, Donna GREINER and spouse Kenneth of Brighton; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Lester, Harlan, Roy and Glenn; two sisters Edith DIERS and Marie VOHIES (sic - VORHIES?); and two great-grandchildren.
