Charles Douglas CLARK, 51, Birmingham, died at Jefferson County Health Center emergency room Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Charles Douglas CLARK

Charles Douglas CLARK, 51, of Birmingham, died suddenly Wednesday evening July 18, 2012, at the Jefferson County Health Center Emergency Room in Fairfield.

A funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Fairfield Friends Church with the Rev. Len Maselli officiating.

The body will be cremated following the funeral service.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua. Memorials may be made to Fairfield Friends Church, Inside Out Christian Counseling Center in Richland or to the family and left at the funeral home, church or mailed to the family at P.O. Box 14, Birmingham 52535.

Mr. CLARK was born Aug. 28, 1960, in St. Louis, the son of Charles Roy and Dema Lou HUFFMAN CLARK. He married Emily Diane KEENE in Maryville, Ill., May 29, 1999.

He grew up in Granite City, Ill., and graduated from Granite City High School in 1978. He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 1982 with a bachelor of arts degree in music education.

He taught music in the St. Louis area, southern Missouri and in Tennessee.

The CLARKs moved to Iowa in January 2007 where he worked at Cambridge Investments in Fairfield.

He accepted Jesus as his savior and leader of his life as a young boy. As an adult, his heart's desire was to serve his Lord and live out his faith as a husband and father. He was a member of Farifield Friends Church, an elder and part of the worship team. He was a group leader in the St. Louis Christian Businessmen's Committee and always active in church music or Sunday school department or wherever he was needed.

Survivors include his wife, Emily; three children, Madeline, Abigail and Charles all at home; his father, Charles R. CLARK and spouse Arline of Granite City; five sisters, Charlotte SCHUMAN of St. Charles, Mo., Pamela ISREAL of Edwardsville, Ill., Karon HARBISON of Smithton, Ill., Sharon TEARNEY of Peoria, Ariz., and Sandra FLASHER of Oklahoma City, Okla.

He was preceded in death by his mother, an infant child Francis and an infant sister.

Benefit for CLARK family rescheduled for Sept. 8

BIRMINGHAM -- A benefit supper and dessert raffle for the family of the late Charles Douglas CLARK is set for 5:30 p.m. Sept. 8 at the Birmingham Park shelter.

The free-will donation supper includes hot dogs, hamburgers, side dishes, cake and ice cream.

Whole desserts will be raffled. Tickets will be available at the event.

CLARK died July 18. Survivors include his wife Emily and children Madeline, 11, Deanne, 7, and Bobby, 4.

The benefit event was rescheduled from a previous date.
