John ROCK was born in Bedford Co., Penn. Apr. 28, 1833. In an early day he came west to Iowa, then to Kansas and about two years ago to Oklahoma, making his home with his daughter, Mrs. GREEN, south of Woodward. He married Harriet STONE of Jefferson County, Iowa, in 1855. To them were born 12 children, 7 still living. U. B. Church..... He lived a long time through many stirring events and crises of the United States. John ROCK was one of the pioneers. He belonged to the builders of this nation. He died the morning of Feb. 2 at the Green home and was laid to rest in Elmwood cemetery.

Admin. note: Elmwood Cemetery is near Woodward, OK; wife Harriet died in 1924 and is buried there as well. Burial listings for that cemetery online indicate John died on the 7th, not the 2nd.
