Bennie 'Ben' John HENDRICKS

Bennie (Ben) John HENDRICKS of Bonaparte, Iowa, passed away July 1, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, after fighting a long battle with esophageal cancer.

He was born July 15, 1942, in Tiffin, Iowa; son of Stanley and Myrtle HENDRICKS.

Ben graduated from Bonaparte High School, served in the Air Force, and worked as a civilian contractor in Vietnam.

He and his wife Rose owned and operated the Bonaparte Retreat Restaurant in Bonaparte for the past 42 years.

Ben is survived by: his wife Rose; daughter, Tammy; son, Jim (Beth); four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two sisters and a brother, Marye KANDZOR, Edna RAMSEY, and David HENDRICKS; and several nieces and nephews.

As per Ben's wishes, he has been cremated. A memorial celebration will be held this autumn, October 21, 2012 at Lacey State Park.

Ben will be truly missed by his family and many friends.

Memorials may be made in his name to Hope Lodge and Charities and can be mailed to State Central Bank, 612 First Street, Bonaparte, IA 52620.
