Janet E. LONG

Janet E. LONG, 76, of rural Keosauqua died Thursday morning, June 21, 2012, in a motor vehicle accident at the junction of Highway 218 and Salem Road south of Mount Pleasant.

The body has been cremated. A joint memorial service for Mrs. LONG and her sister-in-law Fae BLACK, who also was killed in the accident, will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Keosauqua United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Douglas Harding officiating.

Memorials to Pittsburg Cemetery may be brought to the service or mailed to the family at 18807 Route J40, Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is assisting the family.

Mrs. LONG was born Oct. 22, 1936, in Iowa City, the daughter of Emery and Lillian MORRIS MILLER. She married Donald W. LONG May 12, 1956, in Keosauqua.

Mrs. LONG graduated from Keosauqua High School. She worked many years at Sullivan Drug Store. She served on the Keosauqua election board, was affiliated with Keosauqua United Methodist Women and did volunteer work for Red Cross blood drives, Christmas for Kids, Van Buren County Hospital Auxiliary and Friends of Lacey. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.

Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Donette JOHNSON and spouse Tony of Mount Vernon; one son, Joel LONG and spouse Jo of Conyers, ga.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Larry MILLER of Fairfield and Harold MILLER of Davenport; three sisters, Twila MILLER of Marion, Ida Mae LIEB of Atkins and Ruth CLUBB of Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gale, Allen and Richard MILLER; and one sister, Lila SIMMONS.
