Ira SMITH dies at 78

CANTRIL-- Ira F. SMITH, 78, Cantril area farmer, died at 4:25 a.m. Monday at the home of his sister in Chicago, Ill.

The son of Charles R. and Harriett DeJONG SMITH, he was born Aug. 1, 1901 near Cantril and lived his entire life in that community. Surviving are two sisters, Marguerite S. REID of Chicago and Kathryn NEWTON, Fort Madison.

Services will be Wednesday, 1:30 p.m., at Cantril United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul Knupp officiating. The family will be at the church for visitation after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery (sic - in Cantril). Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is in charge of arrangements.
