Perry Bain and wife and Mr. Lafler and wife Near Merrimac spent a day or two at the bedside of their uncle Monroe Bain during the past week.
OBIT. A GOOD MAN GONE. Monroe Zeno Bain died at his home in Brighton Wed. June 4. Born 3 miles west of Concord, Carabus Co. S.C. Oct 13, 1826. His father moved to Illinois in the fall of 1831 and came to Iowa 1838. On Sept. 6 of that year the family located where the town of Wayland is now situated. In Aug. 1853 he married Amy Jane Nelson who died May 5 1889 age 58 y. & 7 m.; 10 children, 9 still living, all of them in Montana and Dakota. They are Frank, Lee, George, Julius, Zeno, Charlie, James, John and Mrs. Ellen Peck. For many years Mr. Bain conducted a large farm in Walnut township.....Oct 29, 1889 married Mrs. Eliza Swisher, Mason.
