Funeral services for the late Rev. Jonathan K. GEORGE, Civil War veteran, were held at the Methodist church in Mt. Pleasant Friday afternoon at 4 o'clock, with a goodly number of friends in attendance. The members of the Ministerial Union attended the services in a body as a token of their appreciation of him and for a long life well lived.
The services were in charge of Rev. Thomas Osborn, pastor of the Methodist church, assisted by Rev. H. J. Wilkins, pastor of the Congregation church and Dr. Herbert Tucker of Iowa Wesleyan college. Several hymns were sung by a mixed quartet composed of Mrs. G.E. King, Mrs. Lloyd Shipton, Harry Wenger and J.W. Hobson. The body was taken to Corning, Iowa, Saturday morning where brief services were held that afternoon and interment took place there in the family lot.
Mr. GEORGE is a former resident of Jefferson county and of this city, where the family lived for several years.
