Dorothy Jean BURNETT

Dorothy Jean BURNETT age 79, of Batavia passed away March 17, 2012 at the hospice house in Ottumwa, Ia.

A private memorial graveside service will be held at the Bethesda Cemetery with Pastor Peg Ellingson officiating.

The body has been cremated.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Faith United Methodist Church or to the family. Cards and memorials can be sent to: 2239 Hemlock Ave. Batavia, Iowa 52533.

Dorothy Jean BURNETT was born on October 8, 1932 in Appanoose County to William Harrison SCOTT and Hallie Esther COX WHITE. She married Herbert BURNETT on May 19, 1951 in Ottumwa, Iowa. He survives.

Dorothy graduated form Ottumwa high school, she has lived in Wapello, Jefferson County area for almost 61 years. Dorothy enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, food, camping, and attending the Iowa state fair and most of all following the grandkids in their sporting events. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Libertyville.

Dorothy is survived by her husband Herbert of Batavia, Iowa, 2 sons and 1 daughter and spouses, Robert (Ann) BURNETT of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Marcia (Calvin) SNEAD of Batavia, Iowa, and Steven (Jill) BURNETT of Libertyville, Iowa, 7 grandchildren Mike BURNETT, Michelle BLOMME, Carrie ENGLE, Callie SNEAD, Sydney, Colton, and Blake BURNETT, 8 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jaron, and Jacen BLOMME, Derek ROBINSON, David and Dagan BURNETT, and Cole and Cory ENGLE. 1 brother Dale (Letha) SCOTT of Kevil, Kentucky, and half sister Martha ADAMSON of Ottumwa, Iowa.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, granddaughter Cassie SNEAD, brothers Richard, Paul, Gale SCOTT, Sisters Geraldene MUSGROVE, Darlene SIMMONS, Marcia and Myra SCOTT. Half brothers Carl WHITE Jr. and Marshall WHITE, Half sisters Lois, Karen, and Sharon WHITE.
