Mrs. Caroline Charlotte SCHMIDT was born in Briecken, Hanover, Germany Aug 10 1836 and died at her home near Germanville July 4 1911 aged 74-10-24. She emigrated to the U.S. at the age of 17, lived at St. Louis two years and at Muscatine five years. She was then married to Solomon SCHMIDT, a widower with five children, and has lived on the farm near Germanville since. Thirteen children were born to them, ten of whom survive her. They are Mrs. FUNK and Mrs. BUSER of Burlington, Mrs. BROUGH and Ernest SCHMIDT of Florence, Neb., Harmon SCHMIDT of Kankakee, Ill., Mrs. WAGONER of Columbus Junction, Mrs. HOSTELLER, Mrs. HOEFER, Fritz and Lydia SCHMIDT of this place, also 22 grandchildren. Husband died seven years ago.... Funeral services at the German Lutheran Church.
