George 'Everett' WATSON

George "Everett" WATSON, 94, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. Burial, with a flag presentation, will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Cards may be sent to 3000 W. Madison Ave., Room 313, Fairfield 52556.

Mr. WATSON was born June 13, 1917, in Stockport, the son of Orla and Lena TOMKINS WATSON. He married Doris Irene HECKENBERG March 9, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.

Mr. WATSON has lived in Fairfield since 1968. He was a farmer for many years, and he worked for Dexter Co. from 1968 to 1979.

Mr. WATSON served in the United States Army during World War II. He was called home early to run the family farm due to a family illness.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield.

Mr. WATSON's interests included boating, waterskiing, watching his grandchildren in their sporting events, doing mechanical work, visiting with family and friends and being a caregiver to many.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter: Judy BUTTERY and husband Dan of Fairfield; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister: Crystal WESTERCAMP of New London.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Vern and Elvin WATSON; and two sisters: Ruth as an infant and Velma CAMPBELL.
