Page 1, Column 3CHRISTIAN KIENTZ HAS PASSED AWAY.
... One of the pioneers of Walnut township died last Friday at 12:30 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. E. SPIELMAN, south of town, aged 78 years 1 month and 5 days. He was born in Baden, Germany, March 28, 1834, and came to this country with his parents when he was six years old. They at first settled at Columbus, Ohio, eight years later they moved to Iowa and settled in the neighborhood which has been his home ever since. In September 1858 he was married to Miss Caroline SCHAFER, who died Oct. 3, 1904. Eight children, six still living. One child died in infancy and the other William R., died at the age of 32. Surviving children are Mrs. Lizzie McGUIRE, John W., Mrs. Fred WILLIAMS, George C., Mrs. H. E. SPIELMAN, and Mrs. John CRAFF... The old KIENTZ farm where the deceased lived practically all of his long life is situated one mile this side of Merrimac...
