KOCH, WEIBLE, SMITH

Brighton Enterprise, Sat. July 4, 1903 (4-3).
Ernest Koch Sr., a prominent citizen of the German settlement for over 50 years, died at his place in Walnut township Wednesday. He was born in Saxony, Germany, May 10, 1829 and came to this country and settled in Iowa in 1857; married in 1859. Wife died four years ago. Their five children all reside in the immediate neighborhood; two sons, John and Ernest Koch, and three daughters, Mrs. Will Weible, Mrs. S. S. Smith of Washington, and Miss Bertha. He was a member of the German M. E. church at Germanville and was buried there Thursday afternoon, services conducted at the house by Rev. Steifel of Mt. Pleasant.
