William BERG, 80, retired farmer, passed away Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at his home, 312 W. Broadway. Mr. BERG had been ill for six weeks, and suffered a stroke on April 9, from which he was unable to recover.

Funeral services will be held at the Hoskins Funeral Home Thursday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the East Pleasant Plain cemetery.

Mr. BERG was born October 13, 1857, in Germany. For a number of years, he resided in Pleasant Plain, from which place he moved to Fairfield 17 years ago.

He is survived by two children, Mrs. L. S. SHAW and Herman BERG, both of this city, by one stepson, A. J. THOMANN of Madison, Wis. and by one adopted daughter, Beatrice BERG of this city. His wife preceded him in eath in 1930, one daughter, Mrs. John M. PACHA, died in 1919 and another daughter, Mary died in infancy. The following brothers and sister also survive: Henry of Lockridge, Charlie and Mrs. Jacob BEKEL of Fairfield, Frank BERG of Emporia, Kan., Mrs. Ernest SAGRET of Des Moines and and Mrs. Mary SAUER of Seattle, Wash.

(Transcriber note: William's spouse was Emma KESSEL, died March 3, 1930. I do research the KESSEL lineage.)

Admin. note: For clarification, he was buried in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery at East Pleasant Plain.
