George L. GRIFFIN

George L. GRIFFIN, 71, 702 E. Adams Ave., died at 4:29 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, 1993, at Nelson Nursing Home.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Memorial Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Buford Robinson officiating. Burial will be with military rites. Visitation is open at Raymond Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to charity of donor's choice.

GRIFFIN was born Nov. 10, 1921, in Fairfield, the son of Archie B. and Ethel RHOADES (sic. RHODES) GRIFFIN. He grew up in the Lockridge and Fairfield communities and attended Fairfield schools. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Iowa Malleable Iron Co. On July 18, 1953, he married Kathleen "Katie" LATHROP RHOADES. She survives.

Also surviving are a stepson, Larry RHOADES of rural Brighton; three stepgrandchildren; tow step-great-grandchildren; a brother, Gail "Pete" in Arkansas; two sisters, Betty BILLINGSLEY and Shirley BARROW, both of Fairfield. His parents, five brothers, Artie, Earl, Raymond, William, and twin brother Glen, and a sister, Mary SHIPP, preceded him in death.
