LEONARD CALHOUN DIED YESTERDAY
Funeral Services Will Be Held Tomorrow from the Methodist Church

Leonard CALHOUN died yesterday noon at the Iowa City hospital where he had been a patient since November 4 (note: in Johnson Co., IA). Death was due to a serious stomach trouble. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 oclock at the First Methodist church in charge of Dr. H. B. Scoles. Interment will be made in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. CALHOUN was 41 years and 7 months old and is survived by his wife and seven children, all at home and the oldest one being 17 years of age. They have been living on the Blakely farm, 14 miles southeast of the city.

Note: Leonard's wife was Goldie Mae BIVENS who died in 1953; they are buried in Lot SDiv.2-020. The surname is engraved on their gravestone as CALHOON, possibly an original spelling; their children spell it either way. Leonard's birth year is engraved as 1883, however he was born in 1884.
