Harold Earl SCHWEITZER

HEDRICK -- Harold Earl SCHWEITZER, 78, of Hedrick, died Monday, July 16, 1990, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Lutheran church in Hedrick with the Rev. Walter Malkewitz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery at Ottumwa. Family visitation will be 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel in Fremont. A memorial has been established to the American Diabetes Foundation.

SCHWEITZER was born Aug. 23, 1911, in Hedrick, the son of George and Catherine SCHMIDT SCHWEITZER. He graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1929. He married Dorothy DICKENS Aug. 23, 1932, at her home in Farson. He farmed and worked at the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service in Sigourney. He was active in the Republican Party, a member of Hedrick Lions Club, St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hedrick and served on the church board for many years. He served as a 4-H leader for several years and on the Martinsburg School Board.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, George Glenn of Hedrick, Harold Wayne of Albany, Mo.; three daughters, Janice BAILEY of Rochester, Minn., Judith WHITMORE of Fairfield, Nancy LEE of Hinsdale, Ill.; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, John of Ottumwa and Fred of Hedrick.

His parents and infant twin sons Floyd Gene and Lloyd Dean preceded him in death.
