OBITUARY

John BANNACH (sic - BANACH)

John BANNACH passed away Sunday morning October 5th at 4:30 a.m. at the home of his son, Frank.

He was born May 5th, 1850 and was 80 years of age at the time of his death.

Mr. BANNACH took ill on Wednesday and Friday night at 9:30 an operation was performed, but due to his advanced age he was unable to survive the shock.

Mr. BANNACH was first married to Mrs. Mary MATASHI (sic - MARASKI, should be KOLENDA) and six children were born of this union, five of which survive as follows: Frank BANNACH of East Pleasant Plain, Thos. BANNACH, Mrs. Frank (sic - Maryanna, wife of Roman KEMPSKI, not Frank) KEMPSKI all of Chicago, also a sister of Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. BANNACH passed away about thirty-five years ago (sic - first wife, died Oct. 20, 1895). He had made his home with his son Frank and family for the past three years.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 at St. Marys church Polishville in charge of Rev. Father Kopczyinshi and Father Sendbuehler of St. Josephs church and he was laid to rest in the cemetery adjoining St. Mary's church.

Admin. note: John BANACH is my maternal great-great-grandfather. I am descended through John's daughter Maryanna, her daughter Emilie, and Emilie's daughter Judy. The only place I find MARASKI noted with a connection to John is his October 20th obituary; this info was then carried over to the WPA Survey and has been taken by some researchers to be a third wife as opposed to a first wife. I believe John was married only twice, and mention of KOLENDA occurs far earlier in vital/public records than does MARASKI.
