Madelyn M. DAVIS, 87, of Keosauqua, died at 6:50 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Madelyn M. DAVIS

Madelyn M. DAVIS, 87, of Keosauqua, died at 6:50 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial of cremains will be in Leando Cemetery, Douds.

Open visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, whee the family will be present 5-7 p.m.

Memorials to Good Samaritan Society-Van Buren may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 20432 215th St., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. DAVIS was born Oct. 4, 1924, near Douds, the daughter of Harry E. and Mary Mae PLOWMAN CARR. She married Elliott C. DAVIS Nov. 14, 1947, in Fairfield. He died Aug. 3, 2002.

Mrs. DAVIS grew up in the Douds community and graduated from Douds High School in 1942. She was weigh master at Douds Quarry and was a longtime secretary at McCoy Insurance in Keosauqua. She and her husband worked for Douglas County Forestry Dept. in Oregon, where they moved in 1977. They moved to Sierra Vista, Ariz., in 1984 and returned to Keosauqua in 2002.

Mrs. DAVIS' hobby was knitting gifts for friends and family.

Survivors include one daughter: Donna McCANNON and husband Frank of Lowell; three sons: Walter DAVIS and wife Darla of Canton, Ga., Harry DAVIS and wife Kathy of Burlington and George DAVIS and wife Susan of Keosauqua; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Stephen CARR.
