Violet MESSER TALLMAN, 93, of Fairfield died at 6:18 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2000, at Ottumwa Regional Health Care Center in Ottumwa.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Open visitation will begin Tuesday at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs. TALLMAN was born May 21, 1907, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Garfield and Hilma SODERGREN MESSER. She married Orland L. TALLMAN Jan, 14, 1933, in Monmouth, Ill. He died Oct. 12, 1989.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1925 and received her teacher's certification from Parsons College. She had lived in Lucas, Biggsville, Ill., Lockridge and Fairfield. She was a teacher and homemaker.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Fairfield.
Survivors include two sisters, Blanche NELSON of Birmingham and Thelma RIDINGER of Mount Pleasant; one brother, Howard MESSER of Fort Collins, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Clifford, Paul, Wayne and Russell MESSER.
