Bernadine SIEREN, 90, of Keota, died today, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Arrangements are pending at Powell funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota.

Bernadine M. SIEREN

Bernadine M. SIEREN, 90, of Keota, died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church in Keota, with the Rev. Charles Fladung officiating.

Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemeteries-St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper.

Visitation is from 4-7 p.m. today at Powell Funeral Home in Keota, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

A general memorial fund has been established. Condolences may be emailed at www.powellfuneralhomes.com .

Mrs. SIEREN was born May 17, 1921, near Harper, the daughter of Carl and Loretta CLARAHAN BEINAHRT. She married Elmer SIEREN Aug. 20, 1940, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. SIEREN graduated from St. Elizabeth Catholic High School. The SIERENs lived in Harper until moving to Keota in 1980. Mrs. SIEREN had lived at a villa in Lone Tree since May.

She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Mary Catholic Church.

Mrs. SIEREN enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes, playing cards, cooking, baking, gardening, canning, growing flowers, mowing her lawn, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family.

Survivors include four children: Carol Ann KAALBERG and husband Gayle of West Liberty, Sharon SIEREN and husband Larry GALAU of Apple Valley, Minn., Daniel SIEREN and wife Mary of Harper and Cindy JOHNSON and husband Donald of Fenton, Mo.; one daughter-in-law: Eloise SIEREN of Keota; 14 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; two brothers: Keith BEINHART of Sigourney and Robet "Bob" BEINHART of Harper; and one sister: Betty ADAM of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one son: Ronald; and four sisters: Helen PENCE, Theola BEINHART, Claudine FLANDER and Burnita SIEREN.
