Elmer B. ABBEY Taken In Death

Elmer B. ABBEY, 93, retired Fairfield businessman, died at 11:40 a.m. Sunday at the Davis Nursing Home in Keosauqua where he had been a patient since Sept. 18, 1965.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald L. Hickman in charge. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

ABBEY had lived in the Fairfield Community since 1915 and was in business for 30 years before he retired in 1945. He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church, K of P Lodge, IOOF and Modern Woodmen.

Elmer B. ABBEY ws born July 21, 1875, at Mount Etna, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elie E. ABBEY. He was married to Katie A. WILLIAMS on Jan. 27, 1897. She preceded her husband in death on Dec. 29, 1965.

Survivors include three sons, Earl E. ABBEY, and Donald E. ABBEY, both of Fairfield, and Allen ABBEY, LeClaire, Iowa; a daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth HOOTMAN, Shellsburg, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Survivors also include two brothers, Herbert ABBEY, Carroll, and Clifford ABBEY, Long Beach., Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Addie STANLEY, Long Beach, and Mrs. Millie GRAVITT, Long Beach.

In addition to his wife, ABBEY was also preceded in death by one daughter, one son and two brothers.
