KANE Rites On Tuesday

John Earl KANE, 76, resident of the Fairfield Hotel, died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday at the Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient since last Thursday.

Services will be at the Raymond Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Lynn Bergfalk officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.

Members of the family will greet friends at the funeral home this evening, Monday, from 7:30 to 9 p.m.

John Earl KANE was born Aug. 11, 1899, in Illinois. He was the son of John S. and Ella RABER KANE.

He was reared and educated in Jefferson County and farmed in the Fairfield area most of his life. After moving to Fairfield he was employed at the Iowa Ordinance Plant in Burlington and later at the Louden Machinery Co., Eagles Lodge (sic - Eagles Aerie) and Parsons College.

KANE was a member of the United Methodist Church and Eagles Lodge (sic - Aerie).

He was married May 10, 1920, in Fairfield to Hazel HENDRICKS. He later married Pearl OLLUM May 12, 1951, at Ottumwa. She preceded him in death Aug. 20, 1974.

Survivors include eight children. Mrs. Herb SHAW, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. John SCHENK, Winfield; Mrs. Leonard WEBSTER, Kansas City, Mo.; Leonard KANE, Denver. Colo.; Mrs. James FERRELL, Fairfield; Leland KANE, Denver, Colo.; Lester KANE, Arlington Heights, Ill.; and Mrs. J.L. RODENMAYER, Ashland, Ore.

Also one stepson, Roy OLLOM, Fairfield; 24 grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and a number of great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Clifford BATES, Washington.

KANE was preceded in death by one brother.

Note: Buried in Memorial Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield, with his second wife Ida Pearl ALLISON OLLUM (Pearl I. on her gravestone), in Lot Evergreen 107, Space 2. His first wife Hazel remarried twice and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield.
