Tuesday, December 18, 1984Vera FORTNEY rites Wednesday
Vera Ellen FORTNEY, 86, 300 E. Lowe, died at 6:55 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
Vera Ellen FORTNEY was born Oct. 21, 1898, in Great Bend, Kansas. She was the daughter of Isaac and Pearl COOPER. She was reared and educated in Missouri and had been a resident of Fairfield for 34 years and an employee at the Fairfield Glove Co. from 1950 to 1961. She was a member of the First Christian Church.
Her marriage to Buel R. FORTNEY took place Dec. 4, 1919, in Kirksville, Mo. He survives.
Other survivors include three sons: William Omaha, Nebr.; Donald, Ashland, Nebr.; and Gary, Muscatine; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother.
