William MILLER, one of the best known citizens of Des Moines township, died the 8th inst. from rheumatism of the heart. He was ill only a few hours. Mr. MILLER was a native of Perry county, O., and was in the sixty-sixth year of his age. He came to Iowa with his parents in 1839, located in Van Buren county, and grew to manhood there. When the Civil war came he enlisted in Company F, Second Iowa Infantry, and served until the close of the conflict. He was wounded in the thigh at the battle of Pittsburgh Landing. He was married to Miss Ellen NELSON February 21st, 1868, and the wife and two adult children, H. Clay and Bertha MILER, survive him. Mr. MILLER came to this county nearly a quarter of a century ago and resided at County Line. He was a man of the strictest integrity, and was held in the highest esteem in the two counties where his life was spent. He had been postmaster at County Line for several years. He was a brave soldier and a good citizen. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. I. T. Flint, were held at the family residence the 10th inst. His remains were interred in the Eldon cemetery.
