Died, at the home of her son, Thomas GUNTERMAN (sic - GONTERMAN), two miles east of County Line in Des Moines Township, Jefferson County, Iowa, July 23 1904, Mrs. Sarah A. GONTERMAN. Born Apr 4 1824 in Carter Co., Tenn.; came to Madison Co., Ill., with her parents when 13 years old, and was married to Jacob GUNTERMAN (sic - GONTERMAN) in Madison Co., Ill., Apr 20 1848. In 1854 came with her husband to Jefferson Co., Iowa, and located on the quarter section of land in which she died. Primitive Baptist Church. Leaves five sons and one daughter, Mrs. Robert ISRAEL of Salide, Colo., besides a large number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her sons are among the substantial farmers of Jefferson County..... The first settlers of Des Moines Township are getting few. Old Mathers Pumphrey and Dunn are about all that are left. Blest, indeed, is their memory.

Note: Buried in County Line Cemetery with Jacob who died 10 years before her. This cemetery has also been known as Dunn, Gonterman, and Rominger.
