Former Fairfield man succumbs of heat prostration in Iowa City
Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Kilbourne church for Fred LIBLIN, 60, of Iowa City, former resident of Fairfield. Mr. LIBLIN passed away at Iowa City Mercy Hosptial early yesterday of heat prostration. He was overcome while working in a field on the William LENZ farm southeast of Iowa City.
Short services were held in Iowa City this morning, and then the body was brought to Kilbourne for the funeral this afternoon. Burial was by the side of his wife (sic. Mary Ann 'Mamie' GILBERT LIBLIN), in the Kilbourne cemetery.
Mr. LIBLIN was born on a farm southeast of Fairfield, and was reared in this community. For some time he was employed on the bridge construction crew for the county. About twenty-five years ago he moved to Iowa City to make his home.
His wife preceded him in death last spring (sic. Feb. 24, 1941), and one brother, Martin, died several years ago (sic. Sept. 4, 1904). Surviving are two brothers and two sisters, Miss Mary LIBLIN, Frank LIBLIN, and Ben LIBLIN, all of near Fairfield, and Mrs. Joe KING of Kahoka, Mo.; and a number of cousins. The LIBLINs had no children.
