LIFE OF ROBERT D. CALDWELL.

Born in Nicholas County, Ky., June 17, 1821, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ida DAVIS in Abingdon Thursday, Feb. 21, 1907. In 1832 he moved with his parents to Rush County, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Miss Mary Ann WEBB in Indiana in 1841. Christian Church. In 1844 Mr. CALDWELL and wife moved to Jefferson County and settled on a farm near Abingdon where they lived until death parted them. To them were born ten children, all of whom are yet living. They are Mrs. Ida DAVIS, Abingdon; Mrs. Susan OGDEN, Batavia; Mrs. Sarah GAMBELL, Hedrick; David, Abingdon; William, Batavia; Lee, of Davis City; George, Hedrick; Mrs. Laura GOBBLE, Guthrie, Okla.; Alfred, Ottumwa, and Elvin of Abingdon.

The six sons, some of whom are gray haired men, tenderly carried their father to his last resting place. Mr. CALDWELL's wife preceded him to the other land about 12 years ago. 33 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren survive this pioneer settler of Iowa, as well as one sister, the only living member of his immediate family left. Mrs. Nancy SYLVESTER, of Competine, Iowa, was the youngest of a large family of brothers and sisters, while Mr. CALDWELL was the oldest. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Christian Church in Abingdon.....
