OBITUARY.

Mrs. Alfred CALDWELL, one of the most highly respected residents of Libertyville, passed away last night at 8:45 o'clock at her home after a week's illness of nephritis. The funeral services will be held tomorrow at one o'clock from the Methodist church at Libertyville, in charge of Rev. Stoghill and the remains will be interred in the cemetery at Abingdon.

Mary Ann CALDWELL was the daughter of Joseph and Rachael (GOBBLE) HUDSON, and was born in Washington County, Virginia, on April 27, 1845. In 1854 the family moved to Jefferson County where she has since resided. On Oct. 31, 1867, she was united in marriage to Alfred Hampton CALDWELL, who is left to mourn..... To them were born five children.... Mrs. CALDWELL is survived also by four brothers and one sister, William HUDSON of Batavia; Joseph T. HUDSON of Packwood; John R. HUDSON of Abingdon; Isaac W. HUDSON of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Rachel MORRISON of Cameron, Mo....

Note: Information in a 1963 letter from Clysta Mae CALDWELL MICHELS of Portland, OR, daughter of Ota M. CALDWELL, names the five children. Because of the elipses in the above obituary transcription it's not clear what was left out, other than referencing survivors.

4. Mary Rosella, b. 30 Aug 1877, near Brookville, Jeff.Co., Iowa; m. 25 Sept. 1895, Samuel Oscar RUSSELL; d. 26 July 1963, Fairfield, Iowa.

5. Royal Alfred, b. 10 Feb. 1881, Jefferson County, Iowa; Lvd. in Oklahoma."
