Page 2, Column 4DEATH OF JONATHAN TURNER.
Jonathan TURNER, an old resident of Jefferson County, died at the home of a son, H.H.TURNER, at Perry, Mo., on the 6th inst.... Deceased was born in Green County, Ky., June 19, 1809. When a young man he removed to Morgan County, Ill., where he was married to Miss Deborah BERRY Dec. 3, 1832. In 1836 the young couple came to Iowa, locating near Salem, and in 1838 to this county, where the wife died in 1846, near Salina. Seven children were born to them, four sons and three daughters, four of whom are now living: Mrs. Elijah BILLINGSLEY, Mrs. Nancy ELLIOTT and Samuel TURNER of Glasgow, and Mrs. J. E. McCULLOUGH of Belleville, Kansas. In July 1847 Mr. TURNER was married to Mary A. THOMPSON of Fairfield, who survives him. Four sons were born to them, three of whom are now living: A.V.TURNER in Arkansas, J.C.TURNER at Hannibal, Mo., and H.H. TURNER at Perry, Mo. Deceased lived in Jefferson County until 1877 when he removed to Missouri.... Funeral occurred at Perry, Mo., on the 8th inst.
