DEATH OF AN AGED MAN.

Lawrence GARMOE died at the County Home Friday, after a protracted illness. He was born September 20th, 1819, and lived for many years in the northeastern portion of this county. He became an inmate of this institution in August, 1900, after his own home had been broken up by death and he had become too old and infirm to care for himself. It was the place of his own selection, and he paid for his maintenance all the time he was there. In his last days, when relatives offered to remove him to their home, he expressed himself as perfectly satisfied with conditions about him and the care he was receiving. Mr. GARMOE was a christian man and a good citizen, and many old friends throughout the county will be pained to learn of his death. His remains were taken to Salina for burial Friday, and services were conducted by Rev. M. L. Sanders of Pleasant Plain and Rev. C. W. Cochran of Salina.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Buried in Berry Cemetery; his wife was Mary J. PARK. On his gravestone his name is spelled Lawrance, and on hers it is Lawrence.
