Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon for Mrs. Mary ROBISON who passed away at her home in Lenox Friday, Jan. 26 [1940]. Rev. Earl Moneymaker, pastor of the church, assisted by Dr. A. L. Davidson, conducted the service. Burial was made in the Lenox cemetery.
Mary BUTLER, daughter of Thomas and Rachel BUTLER, was born on Feb. 25, 1853, in Jefferson County, Ia. When a child her parents moved to Union County where she grew to womanhood. On Oct. 20, 1881, she was married to James C. ROBISON, who preceded her in death on Dec. 18, 1919.
Three children were born, two sons dying in infancy. One daughter Elizabeth M. MAHARRY passed away on Dec. 27 1915. Her step-children, Elder, Wray and Jennie often bore testimony to her parental care for them as they knew no other mother. She was also a mother to her niece, Mrs. Nellie PETERSON during the early years of her childhood.
Surviving are her two step children, Wray ROBISON of Oregon and Mrs. Jennie REEVES of Colorado, two sisters, Miss Lizzie BUTLER who cared for her during the last several years and Mrs. Ann Jane HEWITT; three brothers, John C. BUTLER and Wm. W. BUTLER, all of Lenox and Walter BUTLER of Creston. She also leaves a number of nieces and nephews besides other relatives.
Mrs. ROBISON was a member of the Presbyterian church and was faithful in her attendance and duties until infirmities of age kept her at home. She was very hospitable and was always ready to help anyone in need or who was sick.
