Velma Mae BLACK RIZOR

Velma Mae BLACK RIZOR, 74, of 1202 S. Second St., died at 6:54 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral service will be at noon Tuesday at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Richard Wallarab officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund.

Mrs. RIZOR was born Aug. 29, 1924, in Black Springs, Ark., the daughter of Henry Warren and Joanna Belle GRAVES BLACK. She married Frank Junior RIZOR Aug. 28, 1943, in Kelso, Wash. He died Sept. 1, 1990 (sic. date uncertain; also found as being Sept. 2, 1990).

Mrs. RIZOR had lived in Norman, Ark., and Longview, Wash., before moving to Fairfield in 1947. She worked for Universal Producing Co. for 10 years. She worked in the Jefferson County Hospital business office for 20 years and retired in 1989.

She served on the Lifeline board at Jefferson County Hospital and volunteered at the Bargain Box.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as an elder and as a deacon. She was a member of the Gamma Ladies Circle and also served on the Presbyterian Women's board.

Survivors include two daughters, Marcia GRAY of Riverview, Fla., and Elaine LAWRENCE of Fairfield; three sons, Eugene RIZOR of Silver Spring, Md., Preston RIZOR of Milwaukee, and Duane RIZOR of Chantilly, Va.; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Lorene LOTRIDGE of Richardson, Texas, Mercedes MITCHELL of Norman; and two brothers, Ross BLACK of Longview, Wash., and Emery BLACK of Norman.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Herman, Eugene, Waymon and Lucian BLACK; and one sister, Minnie MAYO.
