"Ulysses Whitfield Lyon, 90, died early this morning in the Jefferson County Hospital. Broken hip. Born in Keokuk County near Richland May 28 1865, son of Frederick and Rachael Harris Lyon. In 1869 moved to Packwood with his parents and on Jan. 22 1893 married Mary Gillett who survives. He has lived in the Richland, Packwood and Hedrick communities and was occupied in farming and cattle buying. Friends chuch. In addition to wife is survived by four sons: Benjamin of Fayette, Mo.; Floyd of Richland; Orland, Denver, Colo.; and Frederick of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Rufus McCracken, Richland, Mrs. Neola Axmear, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Robert Baldock of Sewickley, Pa.; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Burial in Richland Friends Cemetery."
