"Death of John Williams at Waterbury, Neb., May 22 1898. Burial at Pleasant Plain. Born Oct 24 1812 Champaign Co., Ohio; married Harriet Smith of Logan County, Ohio in 1836. Four sons, Jesse, Milton M., and Jonathan in Nebr., Newton in this county. They came to Iowa in 1840 and entered 160 acres of land in Sec. 8, Penn Township. . . . .Was never sued and never sued anyone. Wife died in 1845 and in 1847 he married Martha A. Mills. One son and four daughters. The son died in 1868, Mrs. Samuel (Mary J.) Roberts and Elma Jones live in Dixon Co., Nebr., Nancy Wikoff and Laura Cole near the old homestead."
