"Mrs. Alexander Pickard nee Rhoda Groves, 79, of near Pleasant Plain, died at her home Sat. Lived all her life in Jefferson County. Had been married about 59 years. . . . .Bur. Pleasant Plain."

"Rhoda Frances Groves, born in Belmont Co., Ohio near Barnesville Oct 11 1852. At age 12 she moved with her parents to Iowa, settling near Pleasant Plain. Died June 4. Married Nov 14 1872. Children: Mrs. A. J. Horney who died in 1909; W. A. Pickard, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. Millard Jones, Pleasant Plain; Mrs. A. E. Harken, Fairfield, and Mrs. Homer Brinton of Brighton. Also leaves husband, seven grandchildren, 4 greatgrandchildren, one sister Mrs. Chas. Frazer, Norwood, Pa., a half-brother, Elmer Poole of New Sharon, Iowa, and an uncle, Dr. Henry Phillips of Montezuma, Iowa. Christian Church."
