Death of William P. CAMPBELL.

William P., eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel E. CAMPBELL, who live a few miles north of the city, at Las Vegas, N. M., Sunday about noon. Deceased had been in ill health for many years, and went to that territory about thirteen years ago in the hope that a change of climate might prove beneficial. He died from consumption of the bowels. Mr. CAMPBELL was about forty-three years of age. He was born and grew to manhood in this city. He entered the newspaper business when a young man, and had spent nearly all his later life in printing offices, as printer, editor and publisher. He married while yet a resident of this state, and his wife and three daughters survive him. Many boyhood friends in this city will learn of his death with regret, and will cherish the tender memories that remain of Will CAMPBELL, for there was much in his manner and disposition that made his friends regard him highly. The remains will be brought to this city for interment. The funeral will occur from the home of J. M. WHITHAM, probably tomorrow morning.

Death of William P. CAMPBELL

Word was received in this city Monday of the death at Las Vegas, New Mexico, at one o'clock on Sunday, September 3rd, of William P. CAMPBELL, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Joel E. CAMPBELL, who live just north of this city. His death was caused by consumption of the bowels. Mr. CAMPBELL had been very poorly for over a year, and last winter came back to this city with the hope of regaining his health. He returned to his home in Las Vegas in the spring much improved, but afterwards began to decline and steadily grew worse. Mr. CAMPBELL was born and reared in Jefferson county. He was a printer by trade.

He was married at Bedford in 1874 to a Miss FARMER (sic - PALMER), and leaves now, beside his widow, three daughters to mourn his loss. A few years after his marriage Mr. CAMPBELL removed to Albia, where he published a newspaper for a time, and in 1879 went to Las Vegas where, until his health failed him two years ago, he was the forman in the "Daily Optic" office.

The remains will be brought to this city for interment, and will probably reach here Sunday or Monday. The funeral services will be held at the residence of J. M. WHITHAM, in this city, whose wife was a sister of the deceased.

The family will make their home here in the future.
