STROKE FATAL TO MRS. SAUR

Death came early this morning to Mrs. J. F. T. SAUR, widow of the late “Ted” SAUR who served as a member of the public school staff for over 30 years including 20 years as principal of the Fairfield high school.

Mrs. SAUR passed away at midnight last night after suffering a stroke at her home, 605 N. Court street, sometime yesterday afternoon.

She was found unconscious at her home by Mrs. G. A. Pence, who with her husband and family, occupies the downstairs apartment in the SAUR residence. Mrs. Pence returned to the house shortly after 4 p.m. and found Mrs. SAUR on the floor in the bathroom. It is believed she suffered the stroke about five hours before.

She was taken to the Jefferson county hospital by ambulance where she passed away a few hours later.

Circumstances concerning her death are similar to those concerning her husband’s death. The late J. F. T. SAUR was stricken in the same home in the early evening on Jan. 18, 1950. He was rushed to a hospital in Ottumwa where he passed away a few hours after his arrival.

Frankie Ellen SAUR, 61, was born at Bagley, Ia., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F. P. BOSS. She was united in marriage on Dec. 31, 1919, to J. F. T. SAUR at Indianola, Ia., where she had made her home for several years. She attended public schools at Indianola and was graduated from Simpson college there.

The couple moved to Fairfield immediately after their marriage and Mrs. SAUR had made her home here since.

She is survived by two children, J. F. T. SAUR, Jr., LaJolla, Calif., who is on an extended ocean survey off the coast of Central America; and a daughter, Mrs. James Edward MILLER who resides at Los Angeles, Calif.

She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Walter BONN of Victoria, Ia., a brother, W. D. BOSS, Los Angeles, Calif., and her father, F. P. BOSS.

Mrs. SAUR returned to Fairfield only recently after spending the winter with her sister and father. They were in Texas for some time and recently returned to Victor before Mrs. SAUR came on to Fairfield.

Her father, F. P. BOSS, is known and remembered by several Fairfield residents since he made his home for several years with his daughter and husband.

The body is at the Hoskins funeral home where last rites are pending. Efforts were being made to reach her son this morning through the American Red Cross.
