Bessie GAUMER Taken In Death

Bessie P. GAUMER, long-time resident of Fairfield, passed away at 2:05 a.m. today at the Jefferson county hospital where she had entered as a patient Monday. She was taken to the hospital after suffering a stroke at her home, 1002 S. Main.

Last rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with Dr. J. Henry Teele officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Bessie P. GAUMER, 75, was born Feb. 16, 1885, in Jefferson county, the daughter of Solomon G. and Anna Mary STEWART GAUMER. She was reared and educated in Fairfield, and was employed for a number of years at the Iowa Malleable Iron company. She was later employed in the county auditor’s office until her retirement nine years ago.

She was a member of the Methodist church, Chapter C, PEO, Order of Eastern Star and the Women’s club.

Miss GAUMER is survived by several nieces and nephews including Stewart C. GAUMER, formerly of Fairfield and now of Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by six brothers and one sister including the late Dr. J. S. GAUMER.

Relatives Attend GAUMER Rites

Relatives here to attend funeral services for Bessie GAUMER Thurday (sic) afternoon included the following:

Mrs. Rebie GAUMER, Galesburg, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Belknap, Lincoln, Neb.; Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Adkins and two sons and daughter of Brooklyn, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Lundeen, Moline, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Archie GAUMER, Rock Island, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Johnson, Des Moines; Charles Gary and his sister, Mrs. Mary Weaver, of Toledo, Ia.; and Stewart C. GAUMER of Philadelphia, Pa.

Stewart GAUMER will remain here over the weekend.
