Pg. 1.J.E. PRINCE DIED TODAY IN OTTUMWA
Had been critically ill following operation about a week ago
J.E. PRINCE, well known Jefferson county farmer and stock buyer, passed away at the St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa this afternoon about 2:30 p.m.
Mr. PRINCE is survived by his wife and four sons, and one daughter, Mrs. Arthur KELLER, of Fairfield. Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
He had been critically ill since last week when he underwent a major operation. His condition has been serious since that time.
One son, Leonard PRINCE, of Massena, New York, arrived home a few days ago because of the serious illness of his father. Another son, Raymond, who is stationed at Camp Barkeley, Texas, has been notified. He will be allowed to return home.

Well known in Jefferson county; death followed major operation
Funeral services for J.E. PRINCE will be held Monday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Rev. C. E. Teel. Burial will be in the Bethesda cemetery east of Fairfield.
Mr. PRINCE died Friday afternoon about 2:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Hospital in Ottumwa where he underwent a serious operation about 10 days ago. His condition had been critical since.
He was born October 23, 1865 near Wooster in Jefferson county. He married Jennie ROOT, August 24, 1898.
Mr. PRINCE was a well known Jefferson county farmer and stock buyer. He had bought and shipped livestock from Beckwith for the past 18 years. Prior to that he was an importer of fine horses from France, making four trips to that country to buy the animals himself. He made his last trip to France in 1910.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. A. R. KELLER of Fairfield, and four sons. One son, Leonard, lives in Massena, New York. Paul and Glenn live east of Fairfield and Pvt. Raymond PRINCE is stationed at Camp Barkeley, Texas.
Two sisters, Mary DROZ, route 2A, Fairfield and Mrs. Josephine BAILEY of Pleasant Plain and 7 grandchildren also survive.
