MRS. F. OGDEN SUDDENLY DIES EAST OF HERE

Funeral Services Will Be Sunday Afternoon In Fairfield

Mrs. Frank OGDEN, 72-year-old wife of well known Jefferson county farmer, died suddenly from a heart attack at the OGDEN home 4 miles northeast of Fairfield at midnight last night. She is survived by her husband and five living children. Only last December Mr. and Mrs. OGDEN celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

The funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o-clock (sic) from the Methodist Church at Fairfield, in charge of Rev. John C. Porath, and Dr. U. S. Smith. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery here. Mark Hoskins is the undertaker in charge.

Mrs. OGDEN was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel MILLER, and was born in Muncie, Ind. August 9, 1861. The family later moved to Morrison county Illinois. Her parents died while she was quite young. She then moved to Danvers, Ill. With her brother Joe MILLER, who survives her and lives west of Batavia. One sister Chestie MILLER preceded her in death. She married Frank OGDEN, December 28, 1882, in Illinois and the family was born there.

In November 1901 the OGDENs moved to Jefferson county where they have since made their home.

Her surviving children are:

Mrs. Lottie McCLAIN of Fairfield; Mrs. Ferm RICKER of Chicago; Mrs. Nellie MAASDAM south of Fairfield; Logan OGDEN who lives near the family home; and Mrs. Edna OSBORN, of Sioux Falls, S. D. One son Loren OGDEN preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1929. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren.

Mrs. OGDEN had been feeling quite well early yesterday evening and had been listening to the radio. She took suddenly ill and died about midnight. A number of weeks ago she had suffered a serious heart attack, and all the members of the family came to her bedside. She had improved since the last attack, and the children had all departed for their homes.

Mr. OGDEN’s brother, Harry of Storm Lake, Ia., was expected to arrive in Fairfield today for a visit not knowing of Mrs. OGDEN’s sudden illness and death. Mrs. OGDEN had been looking forward to his visit.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.
