AUGUST KELLER

August KELLER, second son of Anthony and Mary KELLER, was born on the old KELLER homestead, in Cedar Township, Jefferson County, Iowa. September 2nd 1869, and departed this life after three days illness at his home in Stockport, Iowa, January 13, 1930, being 61 years, 4 months and 11 days of age at the time of death. Every thing that could be, was done but he sliped (sic) quietly away at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Practically all his life was spent on his farm ten miles southeast of Fairfield, living with his parents till (sic) his mother died, and then taking care of his father in his declining years, except since November 1928, when he moved to Stockport and made his home.

August was a man of sterling qualities, always being a friend to every one, and outstanding of those, was his love and devotion to those abut him (sic). He tried to do the right at all times and to his courage was added humility, tenderness, friendlessness. Such was the spirit that predominated his life.

He leaves to mourn his loss, four brothers, L. W., Ed., Tony and John H., of Fairfield, and two sisters, Mrs. Sam KING, of Fairfield, and Mrs. Roy WAGONER, of Detroit, Michigan, besides fourteen nephews and nine nieces, and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Buried on Lot 2nd.106, Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield. His gravestone is incorrectly engraved with the death date of 1931.
