HEART AILMENT IS FATAL TO JOHN HAMMANS

Former Fairfield resident died last evening; funeral Friday

John H. HAMMANS, 66, a former resident of Fairfield, passed away last evening about 6:00 p.m. at his home near Birmingham, Iowa. He had suffered from a heart ailment for several weeks.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from Weston Behner funeral home. Rev. Jay Waterman, pastor of the Methodist church in Birmingham will have charge of the services. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. HAMMANS was born March 9, 1873, in Vega, Iowa. He had moved to Birmingham about 4 years ago. Previous to that time, he was a resident of Fairfield, where he was well known.

He was a member of the Methodist church while in Fairfield, he had been a faithful member of the Brotherhood Bible class. He was an active member of the Odd Fellows Jefferson Lodge No. 4.

Surviving are his wife; and two daughters, Bessie E. HAMMANS of Birmingham and Dorothy GOW of Fairfield. There are also three sisters, Emma HAMMANS of Hillsboro; Mrs. Margaret COLTRANE of Pratt, Kansas; Mrs. Jennie CARTER of Stockport; and one brother, Thomas HAMMANS of Ainsworth.

Services at the grave will be in charge of the Jefferson Lodge No. 4, I. O. O. F.
