"Benjamin Franklin Hoskins, the last of the elder Hoskins family who were early settlers in the Pleasant Plain neighborhood, died Sun. morning at the home of his son Benjamin Hoskins Jr. 3 miles s.w. of Pleasant Plain. He left the Pleasant Plain neighborhood 30 years ago and settled near Burr Oak, Kansas, where his wife died many years ago. Of his six surviving children, all live in Kansas except one son at whose home he was visiting at the time of his death, age 86-3-1. Surviving children are Luther, Joseph, Albert and Cynthia Ann of Kansas, and Benjamin of Pleasant Plain. Burial at Pleasant Plain."

In 1835 with his parents Moses and Catherine Hoskins, moved to Ill., and later in 1839 to Washington County, Iowa, near Pleasant Plain. Married, June 7 1849 Louisa Ann Dillon. Eight children, five living: Delilah, Catherine and Silas, dec'd. Albert and Joseph of Jewel Co., Kans., Luther and Cynthia Ann of Rook Co., Kans., and Benj. of Pleasant Plain, Iowa. U.B. & Friends Ch. Moved to Rook Co., Kans. in 1883."
