RENWICK OSCAR BOLTZ

Renwick Oscar BOLTZ, son of Joseph and Elizabeth BOLTZ, was born in Morning Sun, Iowa, on May 6th, 1878, and died at his home in Fairfield on Tuesday, June 30th, 1925.

He grew to manhood in Morning Sun, graduating from the high school of that place, coming to Fairfield when about 21 years of age, where he has since made his home.

Acepting (sic) Christ as his savior at an early age, he united with the Presbyterian church, later changing his membership to the Fairfield church and was a faithful worker in that church until about three years ago, at which time he changed his church at Downers Grove, Illinois, where he has been employed for some years, however maintaining his home in Fairfield.

In 1901 Mr. BOLTZ was united in marriage to Miss Flora B. STEPHENSON to which union three children were born, Robert V., and Helen both at present employed in Chicago and Maurine at home, all of whom survive him.

Mr. BOLTZ was first employed at the Novelty Store in this city, later working at his trade as carpenter and builder at which trade he continued in this city until some six or seven years ago when he spent a couple of years in Oklahoma later coming home for awhile, after which he went to Downers Grove, Ill, where he continued his trade until last spring when his health gave way and he returned home and spent his final days with his family here.

Although seriously ill, Mr. BOLTZ was cheerful to the last and was able the greater part of the time to go about town and visit among his many friends until the last few days before his death.

He was a prominent member of the I. O. O. F., being a member of Jefferson Lodge No. 4, and the Woodman lodges of this city.

In everything and every way, Oscar BOLTZ proved an exemplary citizen, lodgeman and christian gentleman. He was specially interested in christian work, being for a number of years a member of the Board of the New Chicago Mission and was one of its incorporators. In his own church and elsewhere he was always ready for valiant christian service in the church, the mission, the Sunday school or county Sunday school association work he was faithful at any task assigned him and always stood faithfully and conscientiously for the cause of his Master and for the spiritual and moral uplift of the community. While his friends feel a keen loss, yet the blow is softened by the knowledge that heaven has gained a citizen whose influence will continue with us for years to come.
