Richard HISEL dies suddenly

Richard E. HISEL, 62, former Fairfield mail carrier who retired Dec. 28, died suddenly at 3:57 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson County Hospital.

Hisel had served as a postal employee at the Fairfield Post Office for over 20 years at the time of his recent retirement.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Daniel Krueger officiating. Burial will be in the Lockridge Cemetery where military rites will be conducted.

Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Behner Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church or the Salvation Army.

Richard E. HISEL was born Sept. 26, 1922 in Fairfield. He was the son of Clifford and Hazel HESTON HISEL. His marriage to Inez HILDEBRAND took place Sept. 19, 1948. He had lived 21 years in the Fairfield community.

Hisel was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during World War II, he was a charter member of the VFW, American Legion and Eagles Lodge.

In addition to his widow, HISEL is survived by four daughters; Kathy SLAVENS, Denton, Texas; Lois OZIMEK, Fairfield; Rhonda YOUNG, Madrid; and Sherri SMITH, Fairfield. Eight grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
